A Message from the President

A Community in Theatre
My name is Jim Petsche, and I am president of Curtain Players. Speaking to those gathered at our season-end celebration in late June after taking the oath of office, I used the phrase "community in theatre" to describe my regard for this theatre company that has come to mean so much to me.
"Community in theatre" illustrates what Curtain Players is, a common place for those of us who share a love for the performing arts, a haven where we test our own talents, applaud those of our friends, or simply enjoy the live staging of an entertaining story. We even refer to the theatre as "the house," and it is an apt term, for everyone is welcome, and everyone, as in a play, has a part to play.
And so, I welcome you, with an invitation to join our Curtain Players family. Please take some time to investigate this website, and visit often to learn about our programming and our organization. Use the e-mail addresses to make yourself known and to volunteer for one of our many productions, project teams, and standing or ad hoc committees.
Curtain Players is a non-profit theatre company, providing opportunities for Central Ohioans to create and access to enjoy the performing arts in hands-on and affordable ways. Our efforts have been honored with many awards for excellence in acting, directing and technical achievement, and while that artistic recognition is valued, more importantly, we have been appreciated by loyal audiences for nearly 50 years.
We ask your support in time and talent, of course, but it takes money to keep Curtain Players operating. Revenue from ticket and concession sales is not enough. A responsibility of being part of a healthy vibrant community of any sort is giving back, and we hope you will consider a membership gift to Curtain Players early this season. The $12 donation — the price of one admission ticket at the box office — is our entry-level of giving, and it allows you a ticket discount at the box office, voting privileges in our governance, among other benefits. You may simply send a check (written to Curtain Players) to our mailing address, PO Box 1143, Westerville, Ohio 43086.
Our first show of the Curtain's 47th season, the comedy Charley's Aunt, will open Friday September 11. Run for Your Wife, another comedy, follows on Friday October 23. Now is always a good time to be part of the Curtain Players family, as an audience member, as an active member of the organization, or as a donor. Please join our community, our community in theatre.
