Stefan no Langer CP webmaster

After four years in this volunteer role, Stefan Langer on October 1 stepped down as the Curtain Players webmaster.  Michael Day is now leading the community theatre company’s online presence at www.curtainplayers.com

Langer, along with former Curtain Players president Jeremy Sony, was a pioneer in developing the website that has become the company’s key electronic source for news and information.  The theatre under Langer’s tenure as webmaster developed Facebook and Twitter accounts to take advantage of the reach afforded by social networking.  The online ticket purchasing system was installed under Langer’s guidance during the 2010-2011 season.

Langer has been part of the Curtain Players website team since 2007 and has received many Ohio Community Theatre Association awards for its excellence.  OCTA has named the Curtain Players website Outstanding Overall – the best among its member theatres – for four consecutive years.   In addition to his web efforts, Langer has appeared on Curtain stage (most recently in 2010’s A Thousand Clowns), produced the sold-out 2008 playwrights festival, designed many show posters and logos, and has been recognized as Curtain’s 2007-2008 Volunteer of the Year.

President Michael Fusco said of Langer in an e-mail to the board of directors, “Your talents combined with the other ingredients that make up our Curtain Players family have been such a successful recipe over the years.  So we hope it’s simply au revoir for now and not good-bye forever.  We really do appreciate all you have done and look forward to collaborating with you in the future.”

Day for several months has been learning the webmaster role from Langer.  Day is treasurer of the Curtain Players Board of Directors, and he directed the Season 49 opener, Dial M for MurderDay’s web team includes Kate Charlesworth-Miller, board secretary and director of February’s staging of Crossing Delancey, as Facebook and Twitter administrator.
