Curtain Players has announced the cast for its autumn production of The Dining Room.
James F. Petsche directs the A. R. Gurney comedy of manners, set for an October 14-30 run at the Harlem Road playhouse. Rehearsals will commence in mid-August.
Cory Baker, Randy Benge, Megan Evans, Mary Fisher, Laura Smith Hill, and Drew Washburn comprise the Room acting ensemble. Each actor has at least one performance credit with Curtain Players except for Fisher, who is new to the community theatre company.
More than 15 actors attended an open audition Sunday, July 24 at Gallery 202 in Uptown Westerville.
Gurney’s play is described as a brilliantly conceived and richly humorous theatrical tour de force. Six actors on a single set – the dining room of the title – portray more than 50 diverse characters in 18 scenes as they delineate the dying lifestyle of the wealthy upper middle class, and the now neglected room which was once a vital center of family life.
The production team for The Dining Room includes producer Linda Goodwin, rehearsal assistant Betty Peters, lighting designer Mark Peters, properties and furniture coordinator Mary Benge, board operator Dave Tucker, and set construction supervisor Mark Rasche.
Petsche is also looking for theatre technicians to fill several key positions on the production team. Inquiries may be made to Leia Bame, Curtain Players board member in the office of production manager, at production@curtainplayers.com
