Ticket prices up for Season 49

Curtain Players soon will begin selling tickets for its six Season 49 productions, and prices – for the first time in several seasons – are going up.

Citing increases in production costs and the need for sustained revenue to maintain the community theatre company’s general operations, the Curtain Players Board of Directors at its June meeting approved the new price structure for 2011-2012.

Individual tickets will go up in price by $1.  Adult tickets are now $15, with senior citizen and student tickets priced at $13.  Individual tickets for the musical Titanic are priced at $18 for adults and $16 for senior citizens and students.  Season tickets are priced at $78 for adults and $68 for senior citizens and students.  Ticket purchases may be made on the Curtain Players website later this summer.  The season ticket package is the best deal as it offers the buyer six shows for the price of five at individual prices.

The new season includes a presentation of the musical Titanic, timed to coincide with the date of the 100th anniversary of the legendary maritime disaster.  The production costs for this special offering are several times more than that of a regular book show, the board noted in making its decision regarding the price structure.

Season 49 will open with Dial M for Murder. Michael Day is directing the Frederick Knott mystery play, and the cast has begun rehearsals in anticipation of a September 9-25 run at the Harlem Road playhouse.

Following the Dial M for Murder: A. R. Gurney’s comedy of manners The Dining Room (October 14-30); Joe DiPietro’s family comedy Over the River and Through the Woods (November 25-December 11); Susan Sandler’s romantic comedy Crossing Delancey (February 10-26); the Maury Weston-Peter Stone musical Titanic (April 13-29); and Central Ohio playwright Wendy MacLeod’s off-Broadway success The House of Yes (June 1-16).
