Board Commits to AACTFest

The Curtain Players Board of Directors has committed to participating in the American Association of Community Theatre Festival in 2011, sending a 60-minute excerpt of a play for presentation to audiences there and for evaluation by adjudicators.

The board likely will not send an excerpt from any of its main stage productions, rather Curtain Players will prepare a play excerpt or complete one-act play expressly for AACTFest presentation. Once a proposal is approved by the board, the production team will conduct open auditions for the piece and soon after begin rehearsals, with plans to offer the excerpt to audiences several times in January and February.

The Ohio AACTFest is scheduled for March 4-6 in Findlay. The Region III festival will follow April 29-May 1 in Columbus. The national fest is on the calendar June 20-26 in Rochester, New York. Should the Curtain Players presentation receive an invitation at the close of the state festival, it would advance to the regional and possibly national events.

Also in regard to AACTFest... Lisa Billing, who serves Curtain Players as board member and business manager, has been named co-chair of the Region III festival in Columbus.
