Member Awards
Each year, Curtain Players invites the membership to nominate two members for The Richard D. Near Award and The Volunteer of the Year Award. These two awards honor the hard work and dedication of our members and volunteers and recipients are chosen by a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors. The awards are presented at our annual Curtain Calls Banquet.

The Richard D. Near Award
The "Richard D. Near" award was established in honor of Richard D. Near to acknowledge "continued dedication to the advancement of Curtain Players." Richard D. Near served Curtain Players as an officer, board member, actor, director, and advocate. He was involved in obtaining equipment to perform in the Armory and in the purchase of the theater. Mr. Near's illness prevented him from attending the long awaited production in our own building. This is a cherished award in honor of his memory.

The Volunteer of the Year Award
The "Volunteer of the Year" award is given to someone who, as the name of the award says, goes above and beyond the call of duty for Curtain Players. This person may volunteer in big ways with help on various productions or when asked to do a favor to help out the theater. Or this person may volunteer in smaller but immensely important ways.

If you know of someone that you would like to nominate for either award, please email Jeremy Sony at jsony@curtainplayers.com by May 31, 2008. When emailing him, please write a brief synopsis of why you are nominating said person for said award. Nomination letters are often quoted during the awards ceremony at the annual banquet.
